Mercari's Work Team is a recently established unit, formed in April 2023, with the objective of introducing a novel business venture in the HR field. Our mission is to embody Mercari's overarching group mission of "circulating all values and expanding everyone's potential" by bringing fresh value to Mercari's customers, with a specific focus on the realm of "work."

The target domain holds tremendous untapped potential, and in its growth, we envision the possibility of it becoming a substantial cornerstone within the Mercari Group.

Our strategy involves leveraging the full spectrum of assets within the Mercari Group to launch an entirely new business from the ground up, with the ultimate goal of achieving rapid and substantial business expansion.

As a marketing team member tasked with launching a new business, your role involves marketing the new services to consumers. This position offers a rewarding challenge, spanning from strategic planning to hands-on execution.

To foster accelerated business growth, it's crucial to approach the task systematically, considering fundamental issues and the mechanisms required to address them.

Your specific responsibilities include:

  • Crafting medium- to long-term plans for consumer marketing communications.
  • Devising and executing consumer campaigns and community engagement initiatives.
  • Implementing marketing strategies using CRM (Customer Relationship Management) and marketing automation tools.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams such as the product team and sales team to drive coordinated efforts for the success of the business.

The business conducted by the Work Team is intricately tied to Mercari's overarching group mission of "circulating all kinds of value and expanding everyone's potential." Given the compact and highly skilled nature of the team, we are expected to fulfill multifaceted roles in order to successfully initiate and develop the business.

Although it is a formidable challenge to harness the substantial assets of Mercari, Japan's largest flea market app, the potential impact of our success is immense. By tapping into these resources, we have the capacity to effect significant change and create a substantial positive influence.

Qualifications for this role include:

  • Alignment with the mission and values of the Mercari Group and its affiliated companies.
  • Over three years of experience in CRM (Customer Relationship Management) within consumer web services or app services, with familiarity in tools like Braze.
  • Proven experience in implementing the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) process to enhance results through data analysis.
  • A track record of efficiently managing multiple tasks concurrently in high-pressure environments.
  • Strong communication skills that facilitate collaboration across various job functions, including business development, engineering, and design.

Additional qualifications and experiences desired for this role include:

  • Previous work experience at a startup, demonstrating adaptability and entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Proven team management experience, showcasing your leadership and organizational abilities.
  • Experience in establishing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and overseeing in-house services to achieve desired results.
  • A solid understanding of apps and web services, along with hands-on experience in these domains.
  • Proficiency in general data analysis, including expertise in data extraction using tools like BigQuery.

Employment status

full-time employee

  • The trial period at Mercari lasts for the initial three months after joining the company. During this trial period, your employment conditions will be the same as those of regular employees.

  • We have a strict no-smoking policy within our office premises.
  • At Mercari, we have implemented a work style policy called "Your Choice." This policy grants each team member the autonomy to decide whether they prefer to work in the office or opt for full remote work, with certain exceptions made for specific job roles.

Work Hours

  • Full flextime (no “core time” or “flex time”).

Salary

  • Annual salary paid in 12 monthly installments (including fixed overtime allowance).
